Small businesses don't run on one workflow.

Basalt is workflow automation built as modules. Turn on the ones that match how you already work, and leave the rest off. No single module is the product.

How it works

  1. 01

One account for the business. We email a link — there is no password to keep track of.

  2. 02

    Add your people

The staff who help run the place, and the members or customers you serve.

  3. 03

    Turn on modules

Each one is a job you already do by hand. Switch it on when you want it, off when you don't.

What you can turn on

Modules available today. Most businesses start with one.

Members & customers

The people a business serves, and what they can see and do.

  • Member management

Keep a list of members, give them somewhere to sign in, and choose what they see there.

  • Billing

Group a member's own lessons and their students' lessons on one invoice, and keep track of what has been paid.

  • Lesson scheduling

Schedule students or account holders for individual and group lessons, and keep the weeks that do not go to plan.

Classroom management

Classes, the students in them, and who turned up. For the people a business teaches rather than bills.

  • Students & Classrooms

The people a business teaches: a plain list of names, grouped into classrooms when that is useful. Students have no email and never sign in.

  • Attendance

Take the register: mark each student present, absent or late on the days their classroom meets.

Running the business

Supplies, stock, and the paperwork that arrives with them.

  • Invoices

Photograph an invoice from a vendor and have the line items read off it, so the paperwork files itself.

  • Vendors

Who the business buys from: contact details, what is owed, and paying it. Vendors appear on their own as invoices are read.

  • Recipes

What things are made of, and what they cost to make — priced from the invoices already filed, and updated when a vendor puts something up.

  • Labor

Clock-ins from the point of sale, totalled into a pay period and exported as a file payroll can take.

  • Inventory

What is on hand, in the units the business counts in — kept up to date from vendor invoices.

We're working with our first businesses now.

Basalt is early, and we are choosing who we build alongside. If the work above looks like your week, we would like to hear how you do it today.
